These rules will help you to receive answers in the event that you’re interested in making and sharing screenshots, videos, gameplay footage and music created using our games.

Key information:

  1. Every game or tool that we publish has its own End User License Agreement which explains how it can be used. This document is not replacing it, we are just trying to help you to understand it in an open and honest way.
  2. Our games and tools are licensed for non-commercial use only.
  3. Some of our games are made available during development and will contain errors and bugs.
  4. Do not redistribute our games or any files extracted from it, do not reverse engineer it, do not hack it, do not create any alterations of our games.
  5. There is a lot of content from our games licensed separately to creative users that they can share and modify for further use in our games.
  6. You may develop your own game content, tools, plug-ins and other utilities or services for both noncommercial and commercial use as long as it is your original creation, without using the content, tool or any other intellectual property of Bohemia Interactive.
  7. You may use our trademarks and logos only as fair use. Anything you have created should not appear to be an official product of Bohemia Interactive.
  8. You are allowed to put footage (screenshots and videos) of our games on websites (such as YouTube). You are only allowed to make money (e.g. advertisement revenues) from it if you add your own content to it that would be a sufficient amount of additional work/content to justify it.

Are there Rules?

We want to continue making games and most of all we want to continue to give our fans the support and freedom to creatively use our games the way they like. We cannot predict 100% what people will do and how they will do it but there are many rules that everyone should respect.

Monetization?

What can I do?

You are allowed to put footage (screenshots and videos) of our games on your website.

You may use our trademarks and logos only as fair use. Anything you have created should not appear to be an official product of Bohemia Interactive.

If it is feasible, please include the following disclaimer at an appropriate place on your website:

„This website is not affiliated or authorized by Bohemia Interactive a.s. Bohemia Interactive, ARMA, DAYZ and all associated logos and designs are trademarks or registered trademarks of Bohemia Interactive a.s.“

We would prefer if you choose your own original name for your domain. Most importantly, it is important that your website does not create confusion and does not pretend to be an official website. If it is feasible, please include the following disclaimer at appropriate place of your website:

„This website is not affiliated or authorized by Bohemia Interactive a.s. Bohemia Interactive, ARMA, DAYZ and all associated logos and designs are trademarks or registered trademarks of Bohemia Interactive a.s.“

Definitely, we’re happy for people to mirror our patches and demos as long as you don’t modify the patches or demos in any way. You must also include all of the files from the original patch or demo. Bohemia Interactive reserves the right to refuse permission to mirror our files at any time.

Yes. All details regarding the hosting of a server for our games are available here http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_Dedicated_Server. You are not allowed to hack or modify the dedicated server.

Unfortunately, the content of Take On Helicopter is currently NOT available for use by community under any license. There are plans to allow this in the future (similar to Arma Public Licenses).

You may not reverse engineer or hack our games to access the content you want to make items from or to change the game’s functionality.

Please don’t use our Game Content to create obscene, hateful, offensive, racist content (this includes against living or historically significant persons and religions or communities). What we decide is unacceptable in this area goes. If you’re not sure something is ok it probably isn’t, but if in doubt check with us.

Most of the music can be freely used subject to our general rules, e.g. all music from Arma games. Sometimes we license music from 3rd parties and subsequently don’t own the rights ourselves and cannot give permission for you to use music or other audio from the game. If this is the case we’ll let you know, safest to check first with us. But we can confirm that the music in Carrier Command: Gaea Mission and some of the music in Take On Helicopters is not available for re-use.

You must respect the copyright of other people, not just Bohemia Interactive, if it infringes someone else’s rights then you can’t do it. Usually there is a clear license included with each work. If there is no clear license, you are simply not authorized to use it. Just because something is available for download doesn't mean that you can freely use it.

No. Please create your own original logo and always make sure to use Bohemia Interactive trademarks within the scope of fair use

We’re happy for people to team up as a collaborative effort but you’re all responsible for following the rules and making sure the whole team follows the rules.

Yes. Voluntary donations are allowed and are not considered to be a commercial use. Nevertheless, in any way making the “donation” as part of a condition to receive access to/or getting any part of offered content would be in breach of the License Agreement. The content you create must be available to all whether they donate to you or not.

The fact that you are getting donations is not a problem, but they must be provided voluntarily, i.e. not providing donations must not prevent anyone from accessing the content, download it or store it in another place and operating it there.

To avoid misunderstanding, all access or the content has to be free of any charge.

Yes this is allowed, with the same rules = the access to data/content cannot be limited by any financial contribution.

In no way does this mean that Bohemia guarantees any compatibility or functionality now, or in the future for your modding work or that Bohemia endorses your project.

No this is not allowed, donation/funding or any other kind of rewards related to monetary contributions cannot be linked to any kind of in game content, the one exception to this is you are allowed to credit donators by name if you so wish in your mod’s ingame credits and/or documentation.

Yes this is allowed as long as it does not infringe on any of Bohemia Interactive’s trademarks/copyrights.

For example: If you create your own modification called e.g. “Black storm”, you can sell T-shirts with the name “Black storm” on it. BUT: You CANNOT sell T-shirts with the ARMA 3 or any other copyrighted logo of Bohemia Interactive, i. e. “ARMA 3 Black storm” is not allowed.
