FlashNews No 14. (Week Ending 05/09/2004)



Mission Editing Competition News

The mission editing competition closed for submissions August 16th. Preliminary judging of the missions has started and we wanted to give you a brief update/summary as to the current status of the competition.


In total 142 missions were submitted to the competition, (total includes some resubmissions). After excluding those that were duplicates/resubmissions and those that were submitted as pbo only (rather than the specified zip/rar with pbo and a readme) the total stands at 106, this is broken down into the following.....

  • SP, no addons: 33
  • SP, addons: 33
  • MP coop, no addons: 3
  • MP coop, addons: 22
  • MP non-coop, no addons: 7
  • MP non-coop, addons: 8

The missions will go through further stages of judging and this number will be reduced until we reach our ten finalists. More information will be released as the judging progresses.

Flashpoint Addon News

Below is a brief rundown of recently released addons/mods...


Master addon maker Colonel Klink has released a couple of nautical addons, the skilled and prolific addon maker has released a Huckins 78 PT Boat and a "Nasty" Class PTF Boat. Both addons boast multiple working gun positions, and also include many features such as: depth charges, working smoke screen, wind/wave sound effects and even an authentic diesel smell.

Lowlands Warrior Project team have released their addon pack containing many different units as well as weapons, vehicles, islands and demo missions.

SASR Sabre & Skeg_Man have released their Australian Defence Forces soldier and weapon packs.

Pappy "boing boing" Boyington has released an updated version of his WWIIEC Pilot addon.

OTT Terror in "No mans land" have released their Vickers HMG.

Green Beret has released a German KSK addon in three camouflage flavours.

Berghof has released a beta of his Hailuoto island which is based on a real Finnish Island, the addon comes in Summer, Autumn and Winter moods.

Tips: Some people have trouble downloading from Ofp.info, if you do then ensure that the "Use Passive FTP" option in IE is ticked/selected, if that still doesn't help then download and install a download manager such as getright/gozilla/flashget/etc.

Also, addons often require other addons to function, so be sure to read the readme file carefully if you're struggling to get something to work.
