Remove streaming? No... Think multicore stuff with optimised streaming = far more effective and smooth.
Here's a blend of feedback and questions as I am sure many here would also like to know, and look forward to any answers in future blogs.
Really looking forward to better AI, and the taunts/gesture junk sounds good, but I can't begin to imagine my reaction if the AI in ArmA2 refused to get in a vehicle, walk across a road or through a gap that an Abrams could pass through safely, or cross a bridge, then performed a rude 2 finger salute taunt to me - I think some well justified friendly fire might occur lol... Will pathfinding get to the point that the navigation of the AI through obstacles feels and looks natural? Presently the command of a large squad for serious use, like RTS, is limited- is the pathfinding area of AI slated for many improvements?
The increased communication between factions and other game entities mentioned above in this blog - is that envisaged as part of the engine itself, or scripted in the 'campaign' - could it be the first sign of an information / objective sharing / target handoff type of system growing in-game?
If console compatibility means we get to use rudder pedals on a PC then I'm all for it, but will we still be able to use a mouse as now for player control? Are animations and rapid changes between them (hit the deck!!) under consideration for improvement?
The more realistic ballistics and penetration mentioned in another page are still going to happen on the console and PC both?
Will the console and PC be able to play online together in future with ArmA2? With user-made maps and addons?
I welcome these blogs as they give us an insight into what we can expect and where our passion is heading - sorry if it seems like a wish list above, but they are very important questions for very many players. No.2 Luemmel
Sounds very cool. I would like to suggest do avoid streaming because of higher performacne and moderate RAM usage. I am lookin forward to see our good old rainy/cloady Europe scenery! No.1 What do you think?
We are looking forward to your feedback to our blogs...
