Page 2 of 2 No.5 Finally ;-)
Jihaaa - looks fine, and in my case damn fascinating!
I hope it is not that 'faked' destruction system that Crysis has built-in. It seems the palmtrees in Crysis break at 2 to 3 defined points at the trunk when they were hit by shells. The buildings afaik consist of panes which have of course fast physics as they are quadratic and relatively easy to implement and calculate. But this destruction system looks like it is really dynamic with random sites of fractures, of course it seems to be, as we only have some pictures to evaluate - but up to this point it looks not only good, it looks realistic.
BIS, if you put a real dynamic destruction system for buildings successfully into ArmA² then you will again hold the throne of combat shooters for the next 10 years.
I'm curious about how different ammunition will have influence on the destruction system.
Keep it up folks! No.4 Building collapse
Can the entire building collapse as well as have local destruction effects? No.3 Vehicles too?
Did you see how they did building destruction in Faces of War? That was kind of nice, and the AI adapted to the holes blown in side of buildings.
Do you have plans to implement this on vehicles as well?? Blow off a tank turret or break off tail rotor of heli, etc.? No.2 Mods are harder and harder
As content complexity (better visuals, more interactivity) grows, its creating is more and more difficult and demanding - this is true for both us and mod creators, and this is a problem common to all recent games. However, mod creators still have a few choices how to reduce this:
- instead of creating whole content, they may decide only to change some minor aspects of content provided by us (e.g. retexture only)
- they may decide to ignore some new features. The system we are using now is very flexible, and you may freely decide how many parts do you want to be used in destruction, if any, and decide how complex the parts are.
No.1 Gr8
that's awesome thing i ever seen, but i think that would be hard for the Mods, isn't?
